A 40-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman are facing charges after allegedly assaulting a Saskatoon police officer while the man was being arrested on Tuesday.
According to police, officers were dispatched to 20th Street West at around 7:30 p.m. to arrest a man who was wanted in connection with an assault case from earlier this month.

“When police arrived, the suspect physically resisted by punching one officer and encouraged a female bystander to help him when she kicked another officer,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
“Officers deployed a conducted energy weapon and took the man into custody.”
Police said the man was charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and impersonation, while the woman was charged with assaulting a police officer.
