Saskatoon man charged after alleged bear spray threat leads to drug bust

A weapons call has led to drug charges for a Saskatoon man.

Saskatoon police said they received a call Monday night that a man had threatened a woman with bear spray outside a vehicle in the 300 block of Pendygrasse Road.

The woman was gone by the time police arrived, but officers found two men in a parked car. Both were detained for a weapons investigation, and one was found to be in possession of “suspected methamphetamine and suspected cocaine.”

The 40-year-old man is facing two charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Police respond to multiple bear spray incidents

Saskatoon police were called about an injured person in the 500 block of Avenue U South Monday afternoon.

Police said they learned the man had been bear-sprayed. He was treated by paramedics and members of the Saskatoon Fire Department.

The man had been walking on 18th Street when he said another man discharged bear spray in his direction and then ran away.

Later that evening, police received a call about a possible robbery in the 400 block of Avenue V South.

They found a man suffering from an assault involving bear spray. Police said the man was walking when a group of people assaulted him and stole his shoes and phone.

Saskatoon police seek suspects after security guard threatened with knife

Saskatoon police are looking for suspects in a robbery that happened early Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to a call in the 100 block of Circle Drive West and found that a man and woman had allegedly taken merchandise without paying for it, police said.

The suspects allegedly threatened a security officer with a knife after the guard followed them out of the store.

The suspects fled before police arrived, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Saskatoon Crime Stoppers.
