After the completion of an autopsy on July 30, the Prince Albert Police Service is investigating the death of a young woman as a homicide.
Daina Gauthier was found seriously injured when police arrived at the unit block of 14th Street East on Thursday around 1:55 a.m.
Officers were responding to a report of a stabbing and began first aid on the victim prior to the arrival of Parkland Ambulance at the scene.

First responders took Gauthier to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The Prince Albert police’s major crimes unit and forensic identification section are investigating, with support from the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
Two teens, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, have been arrested in relation to the incident, police reported.
“Police presence at the location has been lifted and members of the public can now access the area,” police said in a news release.
Anyone with information about the incident or who might have witnessed events leading up to it is being asked to contact the Prince Albert Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
“Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses,” police said.
The incident is Prince Albert’s first reported homicide of 2026.
