What’s open and closed in Saskatoon on Truth and Reconciliation Day?

As Canada marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Wednesday, a number of civic services in Saskatoon will be operating on adjusted hours.

“Residents are encouraged to observe this important day through reflection, learning and meaningful conversations about reconciliation,” the City of Saskatoon said in a statement.

Saskatoon City Hall and all public libraries will be closed all day, but the city noted that residents will still need to pay for parking at meters.

“Motorists are reminded that all parking requirements remain in effect, including parking time limits,” the city said.

Saskatoon Transit will operate on its regular hours on Wednesday, and Access Transit trips must be booked in advance, as usual.

Waste collection for garbage, recycling and organics will proceed as scheduled, the city said, and Saskatoon’s compost depot will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Material Recovery Centre and Landfill will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Remai Modern gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday; the Forestry Farm Park & Zoo will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the grounds at Woodlawn Cemetery will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., though the cemetery office will be closed.

City-run golf courses in Silverwood, Wildwood and Holiday Park will run on their regular hours on Wednesday, the city said, with tee times starting at 7 a.m.

The Cosmo Civic Centre and Terry Fox Track will be closed on Wednesday, but a number of other civic centres will be open to the public. The Saskaoton Field House will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Lawson Civic Centre will operate from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and both the Shaw Centre and Lakewood Civic Centre will be open between noon and 8:30 p.m.
