While the province is taking back millions of dollars from public school divisions after a Workers’ Compensation Board rebate, it’s hands off when it comes to Saskatchewan’s private schools.
Last week it came out the provincial government will be taking the millions the school divisions are getting from the WCB in rebates.
It turns out private schools in the province get to keep theirs.
The province says they’re only retaining the rebates from organizations which are completely funded by the government – private schools in Saskatchewan only get half their operational funding from government.
The province said it’s taking the $4 million from school divisions and $31 million from health regions and putting it toward the budget deficit.
