A 19-year-old from Saskatoon is facing robbery charges after an incident at a business in Westmount on Saturday morning.
Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) said in a news release on Sept. 9, that officers were called to the 1100 block of 22nd Street West on Sept. 7 about 8:10 a.m. after receiving a report of a man robbing a business with a firearm.
The suspect had fled when police arrived. Police obtained video and called in a police dog to track the man, who was then found a short distance away.
Police said the firearm used in the robbery was an imitation and the man is facing possession of a weapon, concealing a weapon, and robbery charges.
Arrest after stabbing
A 17-year-old male was taken to hospital after being stabbed in the Central Industrial area of Saskatoon on Sunday morning, while another 17-year-old male from Sandy Bay was arrested over the incident.
SPS said in a Sept. 9 news release that police were called to the 800 block of Idylwyld Drive North about an injured person around 6:40 a.m. on Sept. 8, 2024 and found the injured teenager being treated by paramedics at the scene. He was taken to hospital with what were believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
SPS said the victim and suspect were known to each other. The teenager was charged with assault and possession of a weapon.
Man arrest after Nutana Park incident
A Saskatoon man was arrested after a CO2 firearm was discharged on Sunday night.
SPS said officers were called around 11:50 p.m. on Sept. 8 to the 100 block of Riel Crescent where someone complained they had been shot at and the suspect had driven away.
Police had a description of the vehicle and plate and then saw it around on Clarence Avenue and Taylor Street East, where they conducted a high-risk traffic stop.
Police found a CO2 firearm, a can of bear spray, and open alcohol in the vehicle. Police also said they believed the victim and suspect were known to each other.
A 38-year-old man is facing charges of possession of a weapon, assault, mischief, impaired driving, and failing to comply.
