The Saskatoon Fire Department says a blaze on Avenue E North has been deemed suspicious.
The fire was reported shortly before 5 a.m. Friday. One occupant was able to get outside safely, the fire department said, but a dog was unaccounted for. Police said the animal was later found dead inside. No injuries were reported.

The blaze was brought under control about 48 minutes after the fire was reported, the fire department said.
The fire broke out on the home’s front porch, the fire department noted, and damage was estimated at $250,000.
Saskatoon police and a fire investigator are working to determine how the fire started, the fire department said.
Police asked anyone with information on the fire to get in touch with police or make an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers.
The police force also asked anyone in the area with footage “of any activity captured between 12:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on Oct. 16, 2026” to contact police or submit the video evidence through an online portal.
“Please also include any other footage deemed suspicious or that could be of interest to investigators,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
