Drivers in Saskatoon may need to take a detour or two on Saturday, with two major events bringing road closures to several areas of the city.
According to the City of Saskatoon, closures to accommodate the 33rd Street Fair run from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday. The closures include 33rd Street between Avenue F North and Avenue C North, Avenue F North from 33rd Street to 34th Street West, Avenue E North from 32nd Street to 34th Street West and Avenue D North from 32nd Street West to 34th Street West.

Meanwhile, the Nuit Blanche Festival means road closues downtown and in the Broadway area between 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 a.m. on Sunday.
The city said Second Avenue South will be closed from 20th Street East to 21st Street East, Spadina Crescent East will be closed from Second Avenue South under the Broadway Bridge to 20th Street East, the Traffic Bridge and Third Avenue South will be closed from 19th Street East to Saskatchewan Crescent East, and Saskatchewan Crescent East will be closed from Melrose Avenue to Eastlake Avenue. Broadway Avenue will also be closed from 12th Street East to Main Street, including restrictions on 10th, 11th and 12th streets.
More closures coming on Monday
Drivers in Saskatoon may need to take another detour on Monday morning, with portions of three major roads closed for construction work.
According to the City of Saskatoon, 20th Street West will be closed for road work between Avenue H and Avenue K on Monday, with the closure running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Additionally, McCormack Road will be closed between Smith Road and Caldwell Crescent on Monday for resurfacing work, with that closure running from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Finally, the city said Acadia Drive’s westbound lanes will be closed at Carelton Drive on Monday to make way for road patching. That closure starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m.
“Closure end times are weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances,” the city noted in a statement.
“Detour signs will be in place to guide motorists around these areas.”
Saskatoon Transit routes may be affected by the closures, the city noted. Transit riders were encouraged to check service alerts and third-party apps for the latest updates.
