A man stuck in a drain grate at Silverwood Dog Park on Friday night had to be pulled free by Saskatoon firefighters.
Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD) said in a news release on Ag. 15 that a crew was were sent to the off-leash dog park adjacent to the north east edges of Silverwood Golf Course, along the riverbank north of the city limits around 8 p.m.

When they found the man caught in the grating of a large drainage pipe they called in two rescue trucks and firefighters cut the grating then used a system of ropes to lift the man out of the pipe.
SFD said the man was treated by paramedics but did not disclose his age or condition in the release.
The City of Saskatoon has an alert on its website saying that areas of the Silverwood Dog Park, including the north entrance, would be impacted by the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) Biosolids Pipeline Corridor Project in the Marquis Industrial area and Meewasin Valley near the Silverwood Heights neighbourhood during the 2026 construction season.
The city notice said construction for the project would include drilling and open-cut trenching within the park.
The underground pipelines that run material from the Wastewater Treatment Plant to the Biosolids Handling facility are at the end of their service life. An “impossible to remove” build-up of human waste — technically called biosolids — is part of the reason the pipes need replacing, according to the city.
