Boy shares ‘scary’ encounter with strange man in Aspen Ridge neighbourhood

A soccer game between three friends turned into a frightening encounter in the Aspen Ridge neighbourhood last weekend.

Nine-year-old Shivansh Patel said he and two of his friends were passing around a ball in a grassy portion of their residential neighbourhood on Saturday.

“A big man came up,” Patel said in an interview with 650 CKOM.

“He made weird sounds and he started chasing us.”

Patel said one of his friends got on his e-bike to ride away, but before he could escape, Patel said the man hit his friend on the back.

“He had a mark,” Patel recalled.

“I was scared,” he said.

Patel said he and his friends called for help and a friend’s dad ran outside with another man to help the boys. After the incident, Patel said he had to speak with police to tell them what had happened.

Although the incident was frightening, he said speaking to the police officer was “fun.”

Nearly a week later, Patel said he has returned to the grassy area twice since the incident where the situation unfolded.

According to Saskatoon police, the encounter happened at around 7:15 p.m. on Haverstock Crescent. The police force said officers are looking for a man roughly six feet tall with a shaved head, who was seen wearing a green shirt and dark pants.
