Saskatoon cops seize two kilos of cocaine and collectable Grateful Dead bear

Seizing cocaine is nothing new for police, but seizing a Grateful Dead-themed dancing bear might be a first.

According to the Saskatoon Police Service, a drug investigation ended Wednesday with officers seizing 2,149 grams of cocaine, $5,371.95 in cash, drug packaging and paraphernalia and a collectible “Be@rbrick Grateful Dead Dancing Bear valued at over $1,100.”

Police said a 22-year-old man and 19-year-old woman were arrested on Barrett Street, in the city’s Aspen Ridge neighbourhood, just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

The officers later searched a home and vehicle on the same street, where they made the seizures.

Police said the man and woman are facing six charges “related to trafficking and possession of cocaine, and proceeds of crime.”
