If you get a text message from Saskatchewan Provincial Court asking you to click a link to pay for an outstanding traffic citation, it’s a scam.
That’s the message from the Saskatchewan RCMP, which said officers have been fielding reports of the scam texts in the areas around Carnduff and Indian Head. The same type of scam has recently been reported in Saskatoon and Regina as well.

“Officers have noted the messages originated from a phone number using a “+21” area code. Please note that these messages are not legitimate,” the Mounties said in a statement.
“Saskatchewan RCMP advise the public not to click on any links provided in these messages and not to send payment or personal information.”
Anyone who receives the suspicious messages was advised not to text the scammer back and to immediately block the number. The RCMP added that recipients should keep a record of the texts, and should not send them any money or gift cards.
If someone receives a text and is unsure about its legitimacy, the Mounties said to contact police. Anyone who receives a text they believe to be a scam or an attempt at fraud was advised to make a report to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
