A 30-year-old inmate has been released from a Saskatchewan provincial jail by mistake.
According to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Community Safety, Brednor Wahpistikwan was released from the Prince Albert Correctional Centre, where he was being held on remand “following an administrative error” on May 28.

The ministry said Wahpistikwan was being held in custody on four weapons-related charges ahead of a court date which was set for July 14. He’s now considered to be unlawfully at large.
Wahpistikwan was described as five-foot-nine, weighing 160 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He has a tattoo of a “potion bottle” on his right arm, the ministry said, and a tattoo of a heart on his right hand. He also has ties to the Big Island Cree Nation, the ministry added.
Anyone who sees Wahpistikwan was advised not to approach him, and to report the sighting to police or Crime Stoppers.
Wahpistikwan’s premature release is the second case of its kind at the Prince Albert Correctional Centre in recent months.
According to Prince Albert police, officers were called to the jail on March 4 after a different inmate, Dagan Mckenzie, was also released from the facility by mistake.
