Two separate robberies this week involving weapons, including a hatchet, have ended with charges laid, according to Saskatoon police.
The first alleged robbery happened Tuesday afternoon around 2:20 p.m., when police responded to a report of a robbery in progress at a business in the 800 block of 29th Street West.

“Call information outlined that a female threatened staff with bear spray and demanded cash before fleeing the scene with multiple other people,” the police force said in a statement.
Police said three people who matched the descriptions of the suspects were found and arrested in the 300 block of Avenue I North. They were carrying two cans of bear spray, a knife and cash at the time of their arrests, police said.
All three people – a 24-year-old woman, a 25-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man – have been charged. The women are facing charges of robbery and possession of a weapon. The 24-year-old is also charged with breaching court-imposed conditions, while the 25-year-old is facing a charge of carrying a concealed weapon. The man has been charged with possession of a weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.
Second alleged robbery on Tuesday ends in arrest
A second alleged robbery, this one at a business in the 200 block of First Avenue South, was reported to police at around 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday.
Saskatoon police said the report indicated that a man had stolen from the business, then threatened security with a hatchet before running away.
Security staff detained the suspect and the man was arrested when police arrived.
The 23-year-old man is now facing charges of theft under $5,000, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, carrying a concealed weapon and mischief under $5,000. He has also been charged with assaulting a peace officer, assault with a weapon and breaching court-imposed conditions.
