Saskatoon residents who experienced flooding and property damage from the Aug. 8 rainfall may get some financial help through the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP).
The Province of Saskatchewan has approved the City of Saskatoon’s application to be officially designated as an Eligible Assistance Area that qualifies for the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP).

Claims must be submitted by Feb. 8, 2026, and all repair work must be completed by Aug. 8, 2026.
The PDAP program is administered by the province and is not a City of Saskatoon program.
The Government of Saskatchewan said on its website that overland flood insurance allows people to choose the amount of coverage and the deductible level that best meets their needs and all property owners should obtain adequate coverage for their property.
Flooding that falls under the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP) covers the cost of uninsurable essential losses, cleanup, repairs and temporary relocation, but eligible claims under PDAP depend on the availability and affordability of insurance in the Saskatchewan marketplace, SPSA says on its website.
If residents have questions about the application process for their claims, they can consult the province’s PDAP Fact Sheet.
PDAP Information packages (including a printed application form) can be picked up at the Information Desk in the City Hall lobby starting Monday.
Residents can check the 2025 PDAP General Claim Guidelines to get started on their PDAP claim application to the Province.
The agency also said that overland flood insurance has not been “deemed reasonably available” in the province and until it is, people remain eligible for financial assistance, adding that homeowners should speak to their insurance broker or insurance company for details.
The Saskatchewan Ministry of Health also supplies an online flooding clean-up guide for homeowners.
Residents are encouraged to call PDAP directly at (306) 787-7800 or the toll-free line at 1-866-632-4033 with any questions.
The provincial office is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
