Saskatoon drivers may see detours, delays due to upcoming road closures

Drivers in Saskatoon may need to take a detour or two in the coming days, with a number of closures planned on major roads.

The northbound ramps connecting Circle Drive to College and Attridge drives will be closed overnight between Friday and Wednesday for road resurfacing, with the ramps closing each night to allow the work to progress.

It’s a similar story with the College Drive and 108th Street ramps to Circle Drive northbound, which will also be closed overnight between Friday and Wednesday for resurfacing.

Starting on Saturday, two days of road patching work will begin in the westbound lanes of Circle Drive South between the Lorne Avenue off ramp to the Gordie Howe Bridge. The city said one lane of traffic will be open on both days, and detour signs will be in place to help guide drivers.

Meanwhile, Avenue H between 30th Street West and 31st Street West will be closed between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday for road patching work. Avenue H will also be closed between 16th Street West and 17th Street West between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday.

Twentieth Street West will be closed between Ottawa and Montreal avenues for water main repair work on Sunday, the city added.

Rosewater Boulevard will see a closure between Gillies Crescent and Gillies Way starting on Monday to allow for sewer work, with the closure starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, and the work is expected to take about 10 days to complete.

Water main work continues on 25th Street

The city said water main rehabilitation work on 25th Street East will require a series of closures, starting with the eastbound lane between Second and Third avenues on Monday. On Tuesday, the work will move to the block between Third and Fourth avenues, and on Wednesday the closure will move to the block between Fourth and Fifth, and on Thursday the work will move to the stretch between Fifth and Sixth avenues.

Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the work, but the city warned drivers to expect delays.

The city noted that timelines for the various projects could change depending on weather and unforeseen circumstances.
