Water main rehabilitation to further impact 25th Street traffic

Drivers who rely on the University Bridge to cross the South Saskatchewan River were dealt a blow when it was announced its reopening has been delayed.

Now they will likely experience a new set of headaches as they travel in the area.

In a release, the City of Saskatoon announced crews will begin excavating and rehabilitating the water main on 25^th Street the week of July 20.

The work is part of the ongoing downtown water main lining project and will affect the portion of 25^th Street between Spadina Crescent East and 1^st Avenue North.

The release states excavation crews will strive to maintain traffic flow while the work takes place on 25^th Street, but temporary street and intersection closures will occur, as will detours.

Businesses and residents in the work zone will see their road access limited during the work. Temporary no parking signs will be in place at least 72 hours prior to any street closures.

In the release, the City states the ongoing water main and storm sewer work farther east on 4^th Avenue, between 24^th Street and 25^th Street, is expected to wrap up by the middle of August barring unforeseen circumstances.
