A 42-year-old woman is facing a charge of second-degree murder after a death on Sunday evening in Saskatoon’s Pleasant Hill neighbourhood.
According to the Saskatoon Police Service, officers were called to a home on the 200 block of Avenue R South, across the street from St. Paul’s Hospital, at around 10 p.m. after getting a report of an injured person.

When they arrived, officers found 77-year-old Dory Cook dead inside the home.
On Tuesday, police said 42-year-old Rachel Smallboy was arrested in connection with Cook’s death, and she’s now facing a charge of second-degree murder.
Smallboy, who was not named by police but was identified in court documents, made her first appearance on Tuesday morning in Saskatoon Provincial Court.
Police said Cook’s death marked the city’s seventh homicide investigation of 2026.
