Saskatoon Police Service’s (SPS) Major Crime Section is investigating what they say is the city’s sixth homicide of 2026.
In a news release on April 26, SPS said officers on patrol were called around 10:55 p.m. on April 24 after a report of an injured person in the 2200 block of 22nd Street in the Mount Royal neighbourhood.

Police said they found a 55-year-old man who was unresponsive and he was taken to hospital transported to hospital where he died the following day.
Although SPS said the death was the sixth homicide in Saskatoon in 2026, no details have been supplied about the fifth killing. CKOM News has asked Saskatoon Police Service for confirmation.
Saskatoon homicides in 2026
The first homicide of 2026 was a 25-year-old man with stab wounds who died at St Paul’s Hospital on Feb. 3. An 18-year-old man was charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault on Feb. 7. His charges were later downgraded on Feb. 27 to being an accessory after the fact to manslaughter, accessory after the fact to aggravated assault, public mischief and obstruction of justice.
The second killing saw a man die after a shooting in the 900 block of 22nd Street West in the Pleasant Hill neighbourhood on March 14. A 17-year-old boy was then charged on March 17 with second-degree murder, using a firearm while committing an indictable offence and possessing a firearm while prohibited.
The city’s third homicide was investigated after a 61-year-old woman died in a Riversdale house fire in the 400 block of Avenue I South on April 3. No arrests have been made.
The fourth killing was a 39-year-old man who died in hospital after being found unresponsive on Avenue X South just before 4 a.m. on April 6. Police have made no arrests.
Saskatoon had eight homicides in 2025.
