The Highway 16 overpass lanes over Circle Drive have finally re-opened, more than a month after the overpass was struck by a semi truck carrying an oversized load.
The City of Saskatoon announced the completion of work on the overpass lanes in a news release shared on Sunday.

“While repairs to the lower portion of the Circle Drive/Highway 16 overpass in the city’s southeast continue, the lane restrictions on the top portion reopened on Sunday, April 19. Highway 11 northbound traffic remains restricted to one lane until repairs are completed,” the city release stated.
The city thanked people for their “patience and cooperation” while work has been happening and continues on the overpass. Drivers are asked to follow the signs and detours in place, still.
The overpass was hit on March 5, and was the first of what would be five overpasses that were collided with throughout the course of the month. Four of those five overpasses were in Saskatoon.
Currently, the city is also completing work on University Bridge, which is closed to traffic and pedestrians, excluding emergency vehicles and transit, for the next few months.
On Monday, April 19, the underpass lanes at University Bridge will be closed to traffic as construction continues.
