RCMP have arrested and charged a teenage boy in relation to the quadruple homicide on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation in February.
The 17-year-old has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.
“Investigation determined an altercation occurred between the youth and a fifth individual at the residence,” RCMP said in a statement.

He was arrested on Dec. 10 following a search warrant of a home on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation by the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit and Indian Head RCMP Detachment, with assistance from the File Hills First Nations Police Service.
The teenager was arrested at the home and cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
He is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on Dec. 11.

In a statement, Insp. Ashley St. Germaine, Senior Investigative Officer with the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crimes Branch said the investigation didn’t end when the intial charges were laid.
“For the past 10 months, our investigators have kept working to provide answers to the victims’ families, and to the community of Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation,” she said.
According to the release, RCMP constantly assessed risks to public safety. As the investigation progressed, officers identified a third person involved.
“After consulting with Crown prosecutors, investigators developed a plan to safely arrest the youth and proceed with charges. This result reflects the commitment of Saskatchewan RCMP officers across the province, whose hard work and expertise kept this case moving forward,” she said.
Three teenagers now facing charges
The two other individuals facing charges were both arrested on Feb. 18, two weeks after the murders.
RCMP arrested Darrius Racette, 18, in Yorkton and a 15-year-old boy on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation.
The 15-year-old cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Both were charged with four counts of first-degree murder.
Background
On Feb. 4, at around 11:15 a.m., the bodies of four people were found inside a home on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation.
“Officers immediately responded. They located four deceased persons in the residence. Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes took carriage of the investigation and investigated the deaths as homicides,” RCMP said in a statement.
The four individuals were later identified as 34-year-old Tracey Hotomani of Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation, 44-year-old Sheldon Quewezance of Zagime Anishinabek, 47-year-old Shauna Fay of Indian Head and 51-year-old Terry Jack of Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation.
