We also saw teams go head-to-head in the Hardy Cup, the Canadian Bowl and the Prairie Girls Football Championships. High school teams also hit the field. 9:00 – Ahead of Remembrance Day, guest host Brent Loucks speaks with former Saskatoon resident, Eric Story, adjunct history professor at Wilfred Laurier University, to hear the story of two war amputees who attempted to hike across Canada for disability rights in 1923 and stopped in various Saskatchewan cities along the way.
LQ: Do you think there are enough supports available to Canadian veterans?
9:30 – An initiative to recognize the honourable service of Canadian veterans is soon to be presented to Parliament. Petition E-6661 is calling for the establishment of a Canadian Independent Military Honours Review Board. Ed Staniowski, a former Canadian Armed Forces member and former NHL player, joins Evan to discuss what this initiative means for veterans.
LQ: Do you think the federal government does enough to honour and recognize Canadian veterans?
10:00 – The town of Duck Lake has put its naming rights up for sale. But with the town’s rich history, some are worried this could erase that historical significance. Bill Waiser, historian, volunteer for Foundations Learning (formerly Read Saskatoon) and author of Saskatchewan: A New History and A World We Have Lost: Saskatchewan Before 1905, joins Evan to discuss the town’s history and what he makes of the name change idea.

11:30 – Minnow-like fish called zebrafish are giving researchers better insight into how to treat scoliosis, a side-to-side curving of the spine. Up to four percent of kids and teens in Canada can be affected by the condition. Dr. Brian Ciruna, researcher and scientist at SickKids/University of Toronto, joins guest host Brent Loucks to discuss whether increased stiffness for children with the condition might indicate a more severe form of the disease.
