A 26-year-old man from Grandmother’s Bay has been charged with second-degree murder after the stabbing death of a woman on Sunday.
La Ronge RCMP said in a news release on Monday that as well as the murder charge, the man had been charged with assault with a weapon, and uttering threats after the death of 18-year-old Melissa Charles from Grandmother’s Bay.

Police said the detachment received reports of a serious assault in front of a home on Charles Street in Grandmother’s Bay on Nov. 2.
When officers arrived, they found the woman, who was declared dead by paramedics, and an injured man. The man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
RCMP said investigations had found there was a fight between the suspect and victim.
The family of Charles have been notified of her death.
The man appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on Monday and Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit are investigating the case.
Grandmother’s Bay is about 104 kilometers north of La Ronge.
