Saskatoon’s compost depot is closing for the winter season on Saturday.
But until then, the depot at Highway 7 and 11th Street will remain open to accept yard waste and provide compost and mulch at no charge. Residents can load up to one cubic yard of compost and mulch for free, while the depot’s supplies last.

The city noted that the compost depot does not accept elm wood, or any treated or untreated lumber. Building materials, garbage and animal waste are also not accepted.
“Food waste is also NOT accepted for drop-off at the compost depot; selected food waste may be composted at home and all food waste can now be placed in green carts,” the city noted.
The depot is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Saturday.
