Two people are facing charges after a man was shot dead by an RCMP officer at Deschambault Lake on Friday.
Saskatchewan RCMP said in a news release on Aug. 9 that the man was shot after officers from the Deschambault Lake detachment found five people in a wooded area near the community around 8:40 a.m on Aug. 8.

Police said that a confrontation occurred between the officers and the man, who was from Deschambault Lake, which resulted in the officers discharging their firearms and shooting him.
Police said the officers provided first aid but the man died at the scene. His family had been notified, they added.
RCMP said that no officers were injured and a firearm and several replica firearms were found at the scene.
Police said on Saturday that a 31-year-old man from Pelican Narrows had been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and possession of a weapon, adding that he was also arrested on an outstanding warrant in relation to an assault at a residence in Deschambault Lake on July 25.
A 20-year-old woman from Deschambault Lake has also been charged with breach of an undertaking in relation to the July incident.
They are scheduled to appear by video link in Prince Albert Provincial Court onĀ Aug. 11.
Two other people arrested on Friday were released without charges.
Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is investigating the shooting.
SIRT is a civilian-led, independent body that investigates incidents where a person has died or suffered serious injury arising from the actions of on and off-duty police officers, or while in the custody of police, as well as allegations of sexual assault or interpersonal violence involving police.
Final reports into SIRT investigations are issued to the public within 90 days of the investigation ending.
RCMP officers from Prince Albert, North Battleford and Saskatoon are investigating the initial call for service received by Deschambault Lake RCMP, police said.
No further information would be provided due to the ongoing SIRT investigation, they added.
