A 34-year-old man was arrested after allegedly pointing a sawed-off rifle in the city’s downtown core.
According to police, officers were called to the 100 block of 21st Street East just after 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

“Upon arrival, officers located a man matching the suspect description, and found him to be in possession of a sawed-off rifle and ammunition,” the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) said in a statement.
Police said the man is now facing charges including pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of ammunition, prohibited possession of a firearm and possession of methamphetamine.
Woman stabbed on 20th Street West
Officers were called to the 3000 block of 20th Street West at around 8 p.m. on Monday after getting a report of an injured person.
“Upon arrival, they located a 49-year-old woman suffering from stab wounds,” the police force said in a statement.
“She was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.”
Anyone with information on the attack was asked to contact police or make an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers.
Two officers injured after disturbance
A 24-year-old Saskatoon man is facing charges after a disturbance Wednesday afternoon.
Police were called to a store in the 100 block of Confederation Drive, where it was reported that a man was causing a disturbance.
“Upon arrival, officers encountered a man acting erratically. He refused to comply with police commands and appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicant,” SPS said in a statement.
When officers attempted to bring the man into custody, he began “physically harming himself.”
Two police officers suffered minor injuries and a taser was deployed on the man.
He was taken to the Royal University Hospital, where he is receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
He’s facing charges of assaulting a peace officer and causing a disturbance. He was also wanted for arrest on a charge of aggravated assault.
