Police have arrested the second suspect in a homicide case at a Saskatoon motel.
Officers were called to a motel on Avenue B North at around 5 a.m. on May 17 after getting a report of a person with a gunshot wound.

At the scene, police found 20-year-old Matthew Brabant, who was injured. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
A 27-year-old man was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, but police said they were still searching for 26-year-old Lawrence Opikowew, who was considered armed and dangerous. The police force asked the public to keep an eye out for Opikowew, and to report any sightings.
In an update issued on Monday, police said Opikowew was arrested over the weekend. He’s now facing a charge of first-degree murder.
The case marks the city’s third homicide investigation of 2025.
Saskatoon’s first homicide investigation this year occurred on January 20 when a 23-year-old man was found by police suffering from multiple stab wounds at a business in the 3900 block of Millar Avenue.
Police arrested a 53-year-old man near Second Avenue South and Spadina Crescent East, and charged him with first-degree murder.
The city’s second homicide was on April 20, when officers were called to an apartment building in the city’s Holiday Park neighbourhood, where a man was found dead just after noon on Easter Sunday. No arrests have been made.
Saskatoon saw 15 homicides in 2024.
