A possible travelling scam is being reported in and around west-central Saskatchewan.
Rosetown and Kyle RCMP warned this week about a paving company going by the name of Construction Redwood or Redwood Paving trying to do some paving jobs in the area.

Police said the group is driving a grey half-ton truck, possibly a Dodge or GM, with an Alberta plate and also have a flat-deck trailer and skid steer.
RCMP said the group is not a legitimate company and it had received information that they are attempting to scam or defraud people. They are referencing that they have performed work for local companies and RMs, “but this is not true,” police added.
People in the area responded strongly after the warning, and it had over 200 shares on the WestCentralOnline website on Wednesday, with the comments section full of stories.
One person said the truck was noticed in Perdue just Wednesday morning, south of the RM of Corman Park a week and a half ago, and the Rosthern area three weeks ago.
Another commenter said the group had been around the Young region southeast of Saskatoon, adding that “their sales pitch is strong, and that they tend to get frustrated, and even made when you say no multiple times.”
Those comments were repeated by a resident of Dalmeny.
“I think that’s the same guy that came to my house last summer, he said they had a bunch of leftover asphalt from a job and they needed to get rid of it otherwise it goes hard and can’t be used, he was offering to pave the end 10 feet of my driveway that is gravel, said he could do it for $2000, I kept saying I couldn’t afford it and by the time I finally got him to leave he was down to $1000,” it read.
Another person posted an image of the “Redwood” business card that contains only an email and website and no phone number for direct contact.
Saskatchewan RCMP said on Friday that investigation is continuing and part of it will be determining if any potential completed transaction is criminal in nature.
Police said that some concerns with services that businesses provide are civil in nature.
Rosetown RCMP has also received recent reports of thefts of asphalt materials, the Friday release said. It’s unknown if they are connected and they remain under investigation.
Anyone with information should contact their local police of jurisdiction, call Saskatchewan RCMP at 310-RCMP, their local police service or to inform Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or at saskcrimestoppers.com.
