Police in Saskatoon arrested a 26-year-old man on Thursday after he allegedly menaced another man with a fake gun.
According to police, officers were called to the 200 block of Avenue R South, near St. Paul’s Hospital in Pleasant Hill, shortly after noon.

“The suspect fled prior to police arrival; however, officers were able to review video evidence and locate the suspect a short time later in the 1400 block of 20th Street West,” the Saskatoon Police Service said in a statement.
“He was arrested and found to be in possession of an imitation firearm.”
The 26-year-old man was charged with possession of a weapon to commit an offence, unauthorized carrying of a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon while prohibited, obstructing a police officer, and failing to comply with court-imposed conditions.
“He was also found to be wanted on multiple outstanding warrants,” the police force noted.
Man stabbed on First Avenue South
A man was seriously injured in a stabbing attack outside a mall on Wednesday.
According to police, officers were called to the 200 block of First Avenue South in the city’s downtown core at around 5:45 p.m. after getting a report about the stabbing.
“The suspects were reported to have fled into a nearby mall prior to police arrival,” the police service explained.
“Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from a potentially life-threatening stab wound; he was transported to hospital by paramedics for further treatment of his injury.”
Police did not name the mall in question, but the address corresponds with Midtown.
Officers searched the area, but were not able to locate any of the suspects.
“Members of the Serious Assault Unit are continuing to investigate,” the police force said.
Woman charged after robbery, threats
A 31-year-old woman found herself in handcuffs after allegedly stealing from a business and threatening an employee with a knife on Thursday.
Police said officers got a report of “a woman attempting to gain access to an apartment building” on Ninth Street East at around 5 p.m.
“When confronted by an occupant, the woman brandished a knife and fled the area,” police said.
“A short time later, police were called to a business in the 400 block of 21st Street East for a report of a woman matching the same suspect description stealing multiple items and threatening the employee with a knife.”
Officers found and arrested the woman nearby. She’s now charged with robbery, uttering threats to cause bodily harm, possession of a dangerous weapon, and carrying a concealed weapon while unauthorized.
