Between September 2022 and the following December, the North Battleford-based Living Sky School Division incurred a loss of $15,152. It’s alleged a school employee misappropriated the funds.
According to a media release, the employee was fired and the matter was reported to the RCMP.
“The school division has increased the frequency of internal audits and is implementing new online software for accepting fees and payments in order to reduce the volume of cash handled in the schools,” the release said.
The other loss occurred between June 16 and Nov. 28 of last year. The report said 12 laptops worth $9,600 were stolen from the Regina Catholic School Division.
“An employee with suspected involvement was terminated from their position,” the release said. “Police and RCMP are investigating. The school division is enhancing physical security protocols for IT asset inventory.”
