Porter Airlines is preparing to operate its first route in Saskatchewan, with daily service between Saskatoon and Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.
The all-economy airline said the daily flights to the nation’s largest and busiest airport will begin May 16, using 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 planes. The departing flights will leave at 2:30 p.m. while the incoming flights are expected to arrive in the Bridge City at 4:55 p.m.
“Porter is the only airline on this route offering a two-by-two configuration with no middle seats,” the airline explained in a statement.
“Passengers can also enjoy Porter’s famous hospitality, featuring free, fast WiFi, premium snacks, and complimentary beer and wine served in real glassware for everyone onboard.”
The Toronto-based airline has operated since 2006, and with the addition of the new route, it now offers service to all 10 provinces for the first time.

Stephen Maybury, president of the Saskatoon Airport, said he’s excited to bring Porter to the province for the first time.
“Porter has had a very long and successful career in Eastern Canada, and we are so glad to finally be bringing the airline’s western expansion to Saskatoon this summer,” Maybury said in a statement.
Kevin Jackson, the airline’s president, said it’ll be a different experience for Saskatchewan travellers.
“The Porter experience is unlike anything Saskatchewan is used to and we believe will become a favourite for local flyers,” Jackson said.
The move comes on the heels of an announcement by WestJet this week, saying it will run daily service from Saskatoon to Minneapolis between April 28 and October to accommodate high demand during the summer months.
