Firefighters are braving the cold to battle a fire on the upper floors of a Saskatoon flour mill.
According to the fire department, firefighters got the call about the fire at the P&H Milling facility on 33rd Street East just after 9:30 on Friday morning.
“SFD crews responded to the incident and discovered fire on the fourth, fifth and sixth floors,” the fire department said in a statement.

“SFD asks the public to remain clear of the area to allow fire crews to perform their work.”
A firefighter confirmed to 650 CKOM that everyone inside the building was safe, and the fire had been contained.
At a news conference Friday afternoon, a fire department spokesperson confirmed the blaze was under control and no injuries were reported, but the cause of the fire was still unknown. While the extent of the damages was also still not yet known, they said the building itself could likely still be salvaged.
The fire department said a fire crew on the fourth floor found a machine that was on fire, and that fire spread to the east side of the building.
“A drone provided by the Saskatoon Police Service was used to assess the roof areas of the flour mill to determine if the flames had spread,” the fire department said in a statement. “The drone confirmed the fire was contained to the lower floors.”
While the fire is under control, firefighters will stay on the scene until the blaze is completely out, the department added.
Sandy Ellert was driving on 33rd Street just before 11 a.m. when she said she spotted smoke coming from near the old Robin Hood mill.
“Smoke was definitely billowing out from the top of one of those larger buildings,” Ellert said.
“It’s quite scary in this weather for those firemen and police officers and everyone else who is involved.”
Fire contained. Member at the scene told me the smoke coming from the roof is just steam. Everyone is safe. @CKOMNews pic.twitter.com/c0kNOU5D4B
