Mother Nature has been tough on winter activities this winter and the weather record keeper.
Wednesday brought more mild temperatures to the province which produced another entry in weather record book.
Stony Rapids located 82 kilometres south of the border to the Northwest Territories broke their high temperature record with the mercury climbing to -0.6 C.
That was the only community to break a record Wednesday according to Environment Canada’s Chris Stammers who says the El Nino effect continues to shield us from the frigid conditions we’re used to seeing.
“It means a lot of mild Pacific air is allowed to flood across the prairies. It kind of shoves all that cold arctic air way north,” said Stammers.
“Even our Canadian arctic is very very mild up to 30 C above normal in some areas.”

While Stammers expects a cool down next week, he doesn’t see any period of prolonged cold in the near future.
The average daytime high on Dec. 28 for Saskatoon and Regina -10 C.
