Saskatoon based Wildernook Fresh Air Learning is hosting it’s first ‘Get Outside! Kids Club’ event with the hopes of get more children outside during the 2023-24 school year.
“It’s a free program. You do still need to pre-register. It’s for families and their children aged 6-13,” said Zoe Arnold, Lead Educator with Wildernook Fresh Air Learning.
According to Arnold, the idea for this event originated in Regina.
“Nature Regina brought the idea to life,” said Arnold.“We reached out and wanted to partner with them as well as with SaskOutdoor and the City of Saskatoon.”
Wildernook is planning to have one event per month during the school year from September through June. The location of each event will also change.
“The goal is also to introduce people to different parts of our acuity and different nature spaces that are also very accessible,” Arnold explained.
Wildernook has tons of activities planned for their first event.
“One of (the) things we’ll be doing is pond dipping looking for some invertebrates in the water. We will also be doing a little scavenger hunt where we build our own compasses,” said Arnold.
There will also be some arts and crafts based in the park.
The next event won’t be until September.
