Estevan doctor facing charge of unprofessional conduct

An Estevan doctor is again potentially facing discipline after allegedly breaching previous working orders.

Dr. Medhi Horri was suspended in January after a patient complained of malpractice. His suspension was lifted on Feb. 24.

The new charge coming against him has to do with the conditions following that suspension being lifted.

According to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan: “Dr. Horri has been charged with unprofessional conduct for having a professional encounter with a female patient without a female practice monitor present, as required by his undertaking, and for failing to immediately report the breach of his undertaking to the College.”

The charge was laid on April 14, with a hearing pending.

“Allegations of unprofessional conduct as set out in the charge below have been referred to the discipline committee,” said the note listed with the charge on the college’s website.

“The allegations in the charge have not been admitted, nor has there been a hearing before the discipline committee to determine whether the allegations in the charge will be proved. A physician who denies some or all of the allegations in a charge is entitled to a hearing before the discipline committee to determine if the allegations in the charge are established by the evidence at the hearing.”

Horri practises at a private clinic at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
