Saskatoon’s riverbank will be lined with thousands of people this weekend to watch a world class pyrotechnic show light up the night sky.
The Nutrien Fireworks Festival runs Friday and Saturday. Additionally, there are events happening at River Landing and Rotary Park including live entertainment and music, kids’ activities and food trucks lined up on the Traffic Bridge.
Organizer Shad Ali says the theme for the 2022 festival is a tribute to how members of the community supported each other during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our theme this year is strength and community connections,” said Ali.
“Our show (Friday) will actually honour what we call Canadian resilience. Then on Saturday we will honour Saskatoon’s strength,” he added.
The fireworks will be shot from the Broadway Bridge both nights starting around 9:30 p.m.
The entertainment begins at 5 p.m. on Friday and at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Community associations will have an opportunity to compete for bragging rights and cash during the Neighbourhood Face-off challenge.
Teams will compete in head-to-head games for a chance at winning a $500 grand prize for their neighbourhood.
