A 22-year-old man has been charged in connection with a standoff that occurred in Saskatoon on Wednesday.
The Saskatoon Police Service said Friday its Guns and Gangs Unit arrested the man after the incident, which occurred in the 200 block of Avenue W South.
On Wednesday at around 1:15 p.m., officers saw a man pointing a gun at a vehicle. The man went inside a house, so the Tactical Support Unit and Crisis Negotiation Team responded.
About 45 minutes later, the man left the house and was taken into custody. A search of the home found a sawed-off rifle and ammunition.
The man is charged with pointing a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, and breach of conditions. He also was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for breach of statutory release.
