The Saskatoon Farmers’ Market is one of many exciting places to be in the city during the May long weekend.
From the flowers and plants outside to unique agricultural products displayed by the indoor vendors, you get your pick of the litter when coming for a visit.
George Wipf is from the Rosetown area and runs his own vendor called Sovereign Valley Farms which sells various types of meats and sausages. Wipf says it amazes him to see the amount of volume the market can attract every week.
“It’s very exciting,” Wipf said.
“A lot of traffic going through the door today and that’s what we need.”
Wipf says the vendors offer a variety of things that are on sale, but most importantly, it’s a place where friends can be amongst friends.
“It’s a good place to come together and have a gathering. You can come by and have a coffee, a lunch and buy all of your supplies you need for the week,” Wipf said.
Roughly 45 different vendors are offering various items like pastries, eggs, sausages, and meats, according to Wipf.
He says he’s up at 5:00 a.m to make the drive into the city from Rosetown, but for him, it’s more than worth all of the hard work.
“I’m over an hour from Saskatoon so to get ready, get loaded and get set up in the vendor here, there’s quite a bit of work involved,” Wipf said.
Since the start of spring, Wipf says it’s been the busiest he’s seen this place ever.
“It amazes me, like people enjoying themselves. I just love to see good people coming here and have a nice visit with friends, do some shopping and go home happy,” Wipf said.
