8:30 – At the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is making some big commitments, including placing a cap on Canada’s oil and gas emissions, working towards an international carbon tax standard, and achieving net-zero electricity generation by 2035. Saskatchewan’s Energy and Resources Minister Bronwyn Eyre joins Gormley to share her reaction to Trudeau’s announcements, whether the provincial government was consulted on these moves, and what the federal climate goals mean for Saskatchewan’s energy sector and the province as a whole.

10:00 – Canada’s flags have flown at half-mast for 157 days, marking the sad discovery of unmarked graves at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School, but with Remembrance Day approaching many have argued that the flags should be raised again so they can be lowered in support of our soldiers and veterans on the 11th. Writing in the National Post, Melissa Mbarki says Indigenous Canadians are now facing backlash despite not asking for the flags to be dropped. Mbarki says the lowered flag does nothing for reconciliation and deepens divides, and she joins Gormley to share her thoughts on Canada’s great flag debate. Would it be disrespectful to keep the flags lowered through Remembrance Day? Call or text 1-877-332-8255 and let us know!

12:00 – Head down into the basement of Christ Church Anglican in Saskatoon and you’ll find a blast from the past – a video rental store complete with VHS tapes and VCRs. The store, called Nutflakes, is the project of Rev. Mark Kleiner, who created it as an effort to get people to reconnect with their community and unplug from streaming services. Kleiner isn’t charging for rentals, but he’s collecting donations for CHEP Good Food (who we’ve featured on our Best of Saskatchewan segment). Kleiner joins Gormley to tell us about the unique project.
