Maidstone RCMP are investigating a serious robbery on Highway 3 that occurred Sunday morning.
Police received a report of a robbery with a firearm in the RM of Britannia near the Paradise Hill and Frenchman Butte communities and responded around 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 10, 2021.
A dark-coloured four-door pickup truck forced a white car travelling on the highway off the road and then rammed it, the initial police investigation concluded. A firearm was pointed at the lone driver of the car, who was able to flee the area on foot and did not report any physical injuries.
The white car remained on the scene and was reportedly not driveable. The occupants of the truck were unknown to the driver of the white car. The truck has not been located and was not found during immediate patrols of the area by Maidstone RCMP.
After continued investigation, no items were determined to have been stolen from the victim during the incident.
Patrols continue in the surrounding communities and detachment areas, according to a Tuesday release.
The truck is expected to have damage to the right rear bumper, with some white paint that likely transferred from the collision. Three people were reported to be travelling in the truck, one man and two women.
The man is described as around 5’10” in height, with a slender build. He was wearing a black bandana over his face and wore glasses. The first female had black hair worn in a bun and was around the age of 20, while the second female was described as having lighter, blonde or orange shoulder-length hair and wearing jeans with a red plaid shirt.
A second vehicle —a tan brown van with a cracked windshield — is also believed to have been involved in the incident and has not been found by police. As many as four occupants might have been in the van, but no descriptions of them are available.
The incident is still being investigated by Maidstone RCMP and the RCMP Forensic Identification Section. Anyone with information about the incident or who has seen the vehicles described is asked to contact Maidstone RCMP at 306-893-4800 or 310-RCMP. Anyone in an emergency situation is asked to call 911.
