It was unseasonably hot in Saskatchewan on Saturday.
According to Environment Canada, 17 communities broke heat records for Sept. 18.
Regina hit 33.3 C, breaking a 1981 record of 31.8 C. Saskatoon got up to 32.9 C, breaking the 1966 record of 31.1.
Coronach was the warmest part of the province, getting all the way up to 34 C. Their previous record was 31 C.
Meteorologist Chris Stammers said he hopes you enjoyed the day because it’s unlikely we’ll see many other days touching the 30 C mark moving forward.
“You never know, but certainly in the second half of September, it gets a lot harder to get those kinds of temperatures,” he explained.
Heading into the week, Stammers explains that we’ll see some cooler temperatures and some warmer.
“We’re entering a bit of an up and down type pattern as far as temperatures go, but generally speaking, we’re going to be above seasonal for the next week. Not quite as warm as what we saw Saturday, but pretty mild temperatures,” he said.
He pointed to Wednesday when he’s predicting temperatures hovering around the 25 C mark.
The first official day of fall is Tuesday.
