Nineteen new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Saskatchewan on Monday, one day after the province ended most of its public health measures — including mandatory masking.
It was the second straight day 19 cases were reported in the province.
More than 5,000 new doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were given out in the province, with the total number of vaccines administered in Saskatchewan now at 1,304,646.
No new deaths were reported Monday.
A look at the numbers
The 19 new cases reported Monday bring Saskatchewan’s total number of COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic to 49,279.
New cases of the virus were located in the Saskatoon (seven), far northwest (three), north-central (three), far northeast (two), northeast (two), Regina (one) and southeast (one) zones.
Saskatchewan has 397 active cases of the virus and has reached 48,309 recoveries.
There are 57 COVID patients in Saskatchewan hospitals, with 48 receiving inpatient care. Those receiving inpatient care are located in the Saskatoon (20), Regina (15), northwest (six), north-central (five), central-east (one) and southeast (one) regions.
In ICUs, patients are in Saskatoon (four), Regina (four) and the northwest zone (one).
Saskatchewan’s seven-day average for new COVID-19 cases is 43.
On Sunday, 922 COVID-19 tests were processed in the province. To date, 935,850 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan.
No new lineage for variants of concern (VOC) were reported Monday. Whole genome sequencing has identified 349 Delta variants of the 7,669 VOCs identified in the province.
Vaccine update
Another 5,458 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been given as of Monday. That included 691 first doses and 4,767 second shots.
The latest doses were administered to residents in the Saskatoon (1,970), Regina (1,779), south-central (498), northwest (225), north-central (214), southeast (159), central-east (150), northeast (86), central-west (64), far northwest (60), southwest (41), far northeast (21), and far north-central (nine) regions.
Doses administered with zone of residence pending numbered 182.
Of those at or over the age of 12, 73 per cent have received their first dose of the vaccine and 55 per cent are fully vaccinated.
