Cold weather caused a delay in some COVID vaccines being delivered in Saskatchewan.
In a news release Sunday, the Ministry of Health reported that 774 doses were administered, raising the total so far to 42,296.
“Due to weather issues, the number of vaccines administered (Saturday) was lower than targeted; reporting delays may also contribute to an underestimate of doses administered,” it said.
With those shots, 95 per cent of vaccines in Saskatchewan’s supply have been administered.
There were also three deaths reported in the update: one person in the 50-59 age group from Regina, one in the 60-69 age group from the far north-central region and another in the 70-79 age group from the northwest area.
Since the pandemic began, 339 people have died in Saskatchewan with COVID.
Recoveries outweighed new cases. There were 194 new cases and 241 recoveries reported, lowering the active total to 2,363.
The new cases are in the Saskatoon (45), Regina (49), northwest (27), northeast (four), southeast (eight), north-central (18), far northwest (10), far northeast (17), central-east (seven), central-west (four) and south-central (four) zones. The hometowns of one new case is pending.
Fifteen previously reported cases have been assigned to the north-central (10), northwest (three), far north-central (one) and far north-west (one) areas.
There have been 25,403 total COVID cases since March, along with 22,701 recoveries.
The seven-day average of daily new cases is 220, or 17.9 cases per 100,000 population.
There are 211 people with the virus in hospital across Saskatchewan. Of those, 28 are in intensive care in the Saskatoon (10), Regina (10), central-east (three), north-central (two), northwest (two) and southwest (one) areas.
