Saskatchewan reported five new COVID-19 cases Thursday, marking 11 straight days with a single-digit total of new cases.
The reported cases — three in the northwest region of the province and two in the Saskatoon area — increased the province’s total to date to 1,609.
The province also announced there were seven more recoveries, raising that total so far to 1,527. To date, 24 Saskatchewan residents have died due to complications from COVID-19.
There are 58 active cases being reported; 29 of them are in communal living settings.
Three people are in hospital in Saskatoon, including two who are in intensive care.
The total comprises 413 cases from the south area (213 southwest, 189 south-central, 11 southeast), 352 in the far north area (346 far northwest, six far northeast), 262 from the north zone (128 northwest, 68 north-central, 66 northeast), 256 in the Saskatoon area, 194 from the central zone (161 central-west, 33 central-east) and 132 in the Regina region.
There have been 517 cases in the 20-to-39 age range, 492 between the ages of 40 and 59, 277 in the 60-to-79 range, 266 involving people 19 and under, and 57 among people aged 80 and over.
The total includes 822 community contacts, 484 people without any known exposures, 234 travellers, and 69 cases that are being investigated by local public health officials.
To date, 66 Saskatchewan health-care workers have contracted the virus.
There were 1,254 tests done in the province on Wednesday, hiking the total so far to 134,772.
