The RCMP announced that on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m., a 24-year-old man died while being held in custody at the Ahtahkakoop RCMP detachment.
Officers discovered the man was unresponsive around 8 a.m. and attempted to revive him by using an automated external defibrillator (AED). Emergency medical services (EMS) also attended, before pronouncing the man dead.
The man was taken into custody at 4:30 a.m., “in relation to an ongoing investigation,” the release said.
The Saskatchewan RCMP asked the Moose Jaw Police Service to conduct the investigation. The name of the deceased is not being released at this time.
