8:30 – The WE Charity scandal continues to dog the Liberal government, even with Parliament prorogued until late-Sept. A number of newly-released documents showed that WE Charity was recommended to oversee a $900M student grant program after cabinet ministers had already started actively working with the charity. Columnist Matt Gurney says this new revelation turns the entire narrative upside-down for Trudeau, who had previously claimed he approved the plan in haste after it was recommended by the public service.

If so, you’re not alone in wanting to help out the servers who went months without work, but according to writer Aaron Nava, tipping sometimes feel like less of a personal choice and more of an obligation. While we usually tip out of gratitude for good service or simple kindness, Nava says there’s a growing movement that sees tipping as a political necessity to help out the servers who may not make a high hourly wage. Nava says tips should not be politicized as charity or a means to fight inequality, and it should always stay a personal choice. He joins Gormley to discuss tipping.
