The RCMP says it has laid charges against a 30-year-old man following a disturbance that led to overflow campers in Waskesiu having to be evacuated early Sunday morning.
He has been charged with uttering threats, causing a disturbance, dangerous operation of a vehicle, failing to stop for police, obstruction, mischief and assault of a police officer.
On Sunday just before 3 a.m., the RCMP received several calls about someone either shooting a gun or setting off “bear bangers” in Waskesiu.
When a Parks Canada warden arrived at the scene, a man got into a vehicle and began driving along a walking trail. The RCMP arrived shortly after and, as the man tried to exit the trail, he allegedly hit a police vehicle.
The man fled on foot into the bush, but was found seven hours later in the overflow campground and arrested.
The RCMP say all activities at Prince Albert National Park have returned to normal.
