Overflow campers were told to pack up and leave Prince Albert National Park early Sunday morning after a strange incident.
RCMP say they received multiple calls just before 3 a.m. about someone either shooting a gun or setting off ‘bear bangers.’
When a Parks Canada warden got to the campground, a man got into a vehicle and began driving along a walking trail. RCMP soon arrived and as the man tried exiting the trail, he allegedly hit the police vehicle.
Moments later, police say the man got out of his vehicle and took off into the bush in the overflow campground area.
He was found seven hours later, just before 10 a.m. in the overflow campground and arrested.
There is no word on any charges.
RCMP officers thank the people camping in Prince Albert National Park for their vigilance and cooperation during the incident.
