8:30 – On Monday morning, Unifor announced it would be blockading the entrances to the refinery — not allowing anyone in, including trucks to pick up fuel. Things escalated on the picket line at the Co-op refinery Monday night as police arrested several people, including Unifor national president Jerry Dias. Dias has been released from custody and joins Gormley now to discuss the union’s recent tactics, and their ongoing negotiations with Federated Co-operatives Limited.

9:00 – The hour of the big stories …. open lines
10:00 – The communities of Beechy, Lucky Lake and Demaine were without power Sunday for more than 15 hours and it was -20C. It got as low as +5C in some homes. According to locals, this is nothing new. They have been dealing with long power-outages about once a month for the last year or so. The power was also out in the communities Christmas Day for four hours. People are worried about their homes and cabins at nearby Prairie Lake freezing, firefighters have been going around and checking on the elderly, and people are frustrated. According to posts on Twitter from people living in the area, SaskPower has blamed old infrastructure for the outages and admitted no one was available during the day Sunday to attend the site to fix. Some residents have had to pay $1750.00 to get a switch on their power pole to run a generator. Joel Cherry, is a Spokesperson for SaskPower and joins Gormley now to talk about the power situation in these communities and what SaskPower plans to do going forward.

11:00 – Chances are you’ve heard of the Keto diet, or maybe even tried it. The low-carb, high-fat diet has really taken off the last few years. It’s looking like it’s not just a fad. A poll from Sept. 2019, conducted by Dalhousie University, revealed that 26 per cent of Canadians have either adopted the keto diet, tried it, or considered trying it in the last 18 months. Gormley shares his experience with keto and some not-so-minor hiccups he had with it.
12:00 – This week marks the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB)’s 11th annual Red Tape Awareness Week. Jennifer Henshaw, CFIB’s Senior Policy Analyst joins Gormley to talk about this week and the 2020 Paperweight ‘Awards” for the worst examples of useless and excessive regulations which were announced Monday.
