8:30 – Former Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall joins the show to share his thoughts on Andrew Scheer announcing his resignation as CPC leader. The news broke Thursday morning, with Scheer saying he’ll step down as soon as a new leader is chosen. While early reports suggested the decision was due to misused party funds for the education of Scheer’s children, the party executive director Dustin van Vugt says all proper procedures were followed when the party reimbursed Scheer for the costs associated with being a national leader and re-locating his family to Ottawa, including a differential in schooling costs. We’ll find out what Brad Wall thinks, and ask him if he’s got any aspirations to jump on the chance to enter federal politics.

11:00 – Tim Stone, host of the Tim Stone Show on our sister station C95, doesn’t drink. He says it can become difficult over the holidays, when there’s an unwritten expectation that everyone will tie one on at Christmas parties and an implication that you’re a Scrooge if you don’t partake. He says if you come across someone who says ‘no thanks’ when you offer them a drink, it’s important to leave it at that and not press them for an explanation or peer pressure them to drink when they don’t want to. Stone’s video on the subject has gone viral on Facebook, amassing more than 110,000 views, and he joins Gormley now to talk about why he’s sharing that message and how you can make the holidays a bit easier for those who leave the rum out of their eggnog.

12:00 – The Saskatchewan Rush are set for their home opener on Saturday, hosting the New England Black Wolves at 7:30 p.m. Coach and GM Derek Keenan says it’ll be a bit bittersweet on Saturday because their traditional championship banner raising was cancelled due to the team’s opening-round playoff loss to Colorado in May after an impressive 11-7 regular season last year. Keenan joins Gormley to talk about the home opener and his expectations for the season ahead.
